A concert in our chamber series but with the big Zlín Philharmonic Orchestra? No, it’s not an April Fool!
Our final concert in this cycle is an unusual affair, as charismatic conductor and presenter Debashish Chaudhuri takes to the podium with the Zlín Philharmonic in a programme based on the "immersive" concept, a unique type of production which breaks down the traditional distance between the artists and the audience, some of whom are placed among the musicians, almost within arm's reach of them. As a result, they experience the music in a whole new way, directly from inside the group of musicians performing it, enabling them to be an integral part of the performance with the opportunity to become directly involved, for example through singing or other sounds, and thus influence the final artistic result.
In this innovative programme, where the spoken word will also play an important part, we hear Saint-Saëns’s symphonic poem Danse Macabre, and Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition in Maurice Ravel’s exquisite orchestration. A concert full of musical colour and a symphony orchestra up close and personal has the makings of a truly amazing experience!
