Dagmar Pecková and Štefan Margita have graced the stages of the world's leading opera houses with their amazing vocal artistry.
Mezzo-soprano Dagmar Pecková was artist in residence with the Prague Symphony Orchestra last season, and this year she has notched up further artistic triumphs with her role as Kabanicha in Janáček's Katya Kabanova in Basle, and concert performances in Rome, Turin, Berlin and Bonn. Among her early career successes were engagements with the Dresden Semperoper and the Berlin Staatsoper. She has been making appearances as opera or concert singer on a number of prestigious opera stages including London's Royal Opera House in Covent Garden and New York's Carnegie Hall. In 1999 she won the Thalia Prize for her Carmen at the Prague National Theatre.
Štefan Margita has performed at Milan's La Scala and London's Covent Garden and, in 2008, at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. After his success at the Prague Spring competition in 1986 he was engaged at the Prague National Theatre and also as soloist at the Vienna Volksoper and the Prague State Opera. He currently operates on a freelance basis.
Our programme tonight includes some of the best-loved operatic arias from Samson and Delilah, The Tales of Hoffmann, Hérodiade, L'Arlésienne, Jenůfa, L'Elisir d'Amore, Yevgeny Onegin, Porgy and Bess, and Cavalleria Rusticana.
We are greatly honoured to welcome these two artists here among the people of Zlín with their joint tour Začínáme Končit (Starting to Finish).
