One of the important areas of the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic's work is supporting benevolent and charitable organisations which help those in need.
Our traditional November charity concert is held in conjunction with the Srdce na pravém místě (Heart in the Right Place) organisation for the benefit of little Adéla Petříková from Kvasice, who was born with the rare Phelan McDermid syndrome, a genetic disorder resulting in low muscle tension, which severely limits Adéla's physical development. The main aim of tonight's concert, therefore, is to generate funds through ticket sales to help to finance the purchase of her specially adapted disabled-access flat.
In this programme, the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic is joined by the Pajky Pajk band, and the Czech singer, musicals actress and Thalia Award winner Dagmar Sobková, known as Dasha, who comes from Zlín, in a selection of world-famous pop songs arranged by Martin Kumžák, who also conducts the orchestra.
