Our first concert in the Subscription C series brings together film music written both in this country and abroad, with Stanislav Vavřínek conducting pieces by John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Klaus Badelt and Howard Shore.
Moving closer to home, Luboš Fišer was a greatly sought-after and admired composer of music for the screen, including Czech films, feature films and animated films, TV dramas and serials. With more than 300 pieces to his name, it is his enormous musical legacy that we celebrate in the second half of the concert as the Orchestra presents a selection of his work in very fine arrangements by Mirko Krebs. This takes the form of an audiovisual presentation of Luboš Fišer’s pieces written for films such as Slaměný klobouk, Chalupáři, Smrt krásných srnců, Černí baroni and Arabela.
The concert is a collaborative venture with the Smetana Festival in Litomyšl.
