B4 - JANA BOUŠKOVÁ

Venue: Zlín Congress Centre  |  Organizer: Filharmonie Bohuslava Martinů, o.p.s.  |  Price: 250,- 210,- 180,-

G. ROSSINI: The Thieving Magpie - overture
F. A. BOIELDIEU: Concerto for Harp in C major
J. BRAHMS: Symphony no. 3, F major, Op. 90
Soloist: JANA BOUŠKOVÁ harp
Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra
Conductor: LEOŠ SVÁROVSKÝ

The first half of this concert comprises work by two composers to be found in Paris at the same time, and they are Gioacchino Rossini and François Adrien Boieldieu who both wrote operas.

Boieldieu also left a musical jewel in the form of his harp concerto which will be played by the very fine soloist Jana Boušková, who is admired both here and abroad. The world famous US harp professor Susann McDonald has described her as the talent of the century. In 1992, she won the world's most prestigious harp competition in the US, and in the same year was runner-up at another distinguished and the longest established international competition in Israel. In addition to her many solo performances, she has been the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra's harp soloist since 2005, and teaches at three music schools in Brussels and Prague.

The noted critic Eduard Hanslick considered Brahms's Third Symphony, which completes tonight's programme, as the most perfect work, the most compact in form and the clearest in detail. The concert is conducted by the celebrated Czech conductor Leoš Svárovský, who has spent his whole career as chief conductor or permanent guest conductor with a number of leading Czech and foreign orchestras. Since the spring of 2014 he has been chief conductor of the Central Aichi Symphony Orchestra in Nagoya, and he has worked on a regular basis since 2011 with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, with whom he made an extensive tour of the US.
