In mid-January the Congress Centre in Zlín hosts two charming and eminent Czech artists, the mezzo-soprano Martina Kociánová and the harpist Kateřina Englichová, in a concert entitled Ave Maria with a colourful selection of of famous and lesser-known arias and songs mostly from the Baroque and Classicist periods.

These will include beautiful arias and canzonettas by Vivaldi, Giovanni Bononcini, Scarlatti and Handel as well as shorter pieces by Mozart, Massenet and César Franck. Czech music will be represented with pieces by Jan Ladislav Dusík, Jakub Jan Ryba and Josef Antonín Seeling. Concert-goers can also look forward to solo pieces accompanied by the harp as well as solo harp pieces.
Martina Kociánová, who is from Ostrava, is a regular guest on many Czech theatre stages with a repertoire stretching from opera to oratorios, songs and musicals, and also appears with many chamber ensembles, having performed not only in this country, but also in Germany, Austria, Japan and Cyprus.

Kateřina Englichová is one of the world's leading harpists, performing in many foreign countries and working with orchestras in Philadelphia, Vancouver, San Francisco and Hong Kong, and also with major Czech and foreign artists and conductors.
